Sun Slept till 8am alarm, due to the amount of red wine consumed last night. To get the systems going, walked up Wanchai Gap Road to top, then down to Bowen Road, along to Central and back along Queens Road. Chatted to Claudia, then went out with her around Wanchai and its markets which are much cleaner than in our day. Had Thai lunch at the back of a handbag shop! Brilliant, tasty and hot and v. Cheap. Walked to Causeway Bay, and we're enticed into a optical shop and both I and Cherry ordered glasses with delivery promised by 6pm the next day, just over 24 hours away. Let's hope this works out! Took tram back into Central and had veg dinner at the Tea House in Hong Kong Park, then walked back using undercover walkways much of the way. Final nightcap of a glass of wine, more chatting, then to bed about midnight.
Mon Woke up in night for a few hours so felt spaced when we got up. Claudi had already gone to work. We grabbed a coffee at Starbucks And walked to Wanchai ferry which we took to TsimTsaChoi, then to MTR to MongKok and walked a few minutes to the China Coast Community Care home to see George Harris (Graham's dad) who is looking his age now. Very nice clean place, and George had a lovely nurse Elaine who was taking a real interest in George and our visit. we saw his room, then he had to go for lunch. We took MTR back to Central, and #15 bus up to the Peak. Sun came out and we had a clearer view than yesterday, so we walked round the Peak to Hatton Road and followed it down to Kotewall Road where we found that our old apartment block Villa Veneto was shrouded in bamboo and asking and was being renovated. Carried on walking down into Western District and back along Queens Road West till we felt footsore ( reckon we had walked a good 5 miles) so leapt on a tram to have tea at Mandarin Hotel - very calming and we needed the rest. Back onto tram to Wanchai to wander to glasses shop where to our surprises glasses were ready and were excellent. What a contrast to getting served in UK.
Out to dinner at Country Club with Mike and Su Sandberg, excellent grill and wine.
Tue Caught #6 bus to Stanley. Clear skies and lovely views of south side of island with beaches. Stanley has been developed with a beach front walkway and a new Plaza at the west end to join it to Chung Hom Kok. Lots of shopping for shoes and handbags. Lunch overlooking sea at The Rocksalt. Back on bus to Wanchai to pop into opticians to order some prescription sunglasses for Cherry. Quick change and final pack, taxi to Airport Express, check in and train to airport. 2 hours to kill so light dinner and a glass of wine at Pizza Express.
Flight left about 7:30pm. Dozed and then finished typing this.
