21-27 Feb

Mon - 'grey cloud' forecast. Went to Amersham to pick up the Chiltern Cycleway. Followed it to Holmer Green and Speen, then it was raining in a drizzlely miserable manner and I got cold so I cycled back to great Missenden and caught the train back to CW. 21 miles.

Tue - Still grey and misty, so went for 5 mile walk to Chess, up to Chenies and a pint in the Red Lion.  Plus 1.5 miles walk to choir in the evening.

Wed - English weather is miserable.  Damp, grey, drizzley and cold, despite wearing all the gear.  Ricky, canal, Cassio, The Grove, Sarratt for a pint at The Boot then back via Latimer/Chienes. 17.5 miles.

Thur - As a muddy and bedraggled cyclist having been impressed with the friendliness of the service at The Boot (refurbed and 'under new management') yesterday,  took Granny there for a very nice lunch and 2 pints of Woodhead bitter (for me not her).  Sun came out for the first time in 10 days.  Total exercise .75 miles walking back from the Vill.

Fri - Nice workout, Amersham-west Hyde-Moor Park then drinks at Aqua Cafe.  Rather embarrassing when I fell over at Little Chalfont, forgetting to uncleat.  Oh dear.  Weather got colder and greyer, but much warmer thanj previous rides.   Still not up to Bahrain standards though.

Sat -

Sun - 10am flight out of Gatwick to Antigua to stay with P&M for 12 days. See you when we get back.

13 - 20 Feb

Sat - Bach B Minor Mass workshop day with Bach Choir, St John's Smith Square.  Trained in and bromptoned acoss West End, around 6 miles cycling.

Sun - Spin at WP.

Mon - Weather forecast excellent, with rest of week rainy, so took a route from the Amersham RCC site to Ivinghoe Beacon.  Little lanes via Ashridge, then open up to great views at Beacon (the Ridgeway is a footpath not bridleway so I sneaked up a path on the side to get to the top).  Cut across to Ashton Clinton, the deviated from route to go up Ashton Hill/Wendover woods, then map read myself back to Hyde Heath for a pint and crisps and home.  Rather chilly, but felt good.  46 miles.

Trig Point, looking north to Leighton Buzzard
Tues - stayed in to accept signed for letter, but managed to walk twice into village, and then to choir in evening, 5 miles

Wed - 'sunny periods' but cold so geared up with new overshoes.  Little Chalfont, Coleshill, Winchmore Hill, then cut across via Shardloes to Hyde Heath (a little footpathing!), and back home via Amersham.  21 miles in 2 hours.
Thurs - 25 Miles to Lee.  Cold but got a bit brighter.  Stopped at Rootz on way back for warming coffee and snack.  Then into hot tub, walk down to 'the vill'.  Feeling v. tiried.

Fri - No cycling, worked out in 'green gym' tidying back garden, cutting hedge at front, cleaning up mud off bike.  Mozart Requiem practice at St Barts in evening.  Prepared sourdough starter for bread making tomorrow, will try a drier mix as the loaf turned out to be a flat pancake last time - nice and sourdoughy chewy taste though, just like in SF. Sat - Very wet start to day.  Day trip out to New Forest, lunch at The Lanes, Lymington with G&N.
Sun -  Morning loop before cooking lunch.  17 miles with coffee at Aquadrome cafe

7-12 Feb

Mon - Cycled into Ricky to collect mail from Post Office, then to Aquadrome for coffee at Cafe.  Become embolden, so went south on canal towpath to Cay Carp, then back through lanes (Old Shire Lane) to home.  13 miles

Tue - Training ride, to Chesham dump then up hill to Amersham and then with G&P to Hyde Heath and the lovely peaceful with view Hyde Lane. 23 miles.

Wed - Up canal to Apsley, coffee at veggie cafe, then Rutlers Lane, Felden, Sarratt and home up the Church End hill to Chienes, a bit of a slog.  21 miles.

Thu - spin and swim at William Penn.  Volume too loud for me!

Fri - Cycled to WP and swam.
