4 - 9 Sept: Spain. (in memory of Grandma)

Sun - Left at 6:45 for Stansted. Easy drive, to arrive by 7:30ish. as we had checked in with no checking baggage we went straight through security. Coffee and bok shopping - Stansted was not crowded and so much more pleasant than Gatwick. FLight left on time, and we arrived at Gerona 12:40, collected Hertz car and checked into Hotel Rosas des Vents by 1:35, amazing.

Weather iffy and as we went out for a walk it poured so we had a drink in the bar overlooking the sea, then it stopped raining so we went shopping for a handbag, suncream and a scoop of chocolate icecream , then we walked along to see Maritime villa where Pete was on the balcony so we crashed in for a cup of tea with Pete, Mo, Robery, Lucy and their kids. Arranged to met for dinner, had a swim (slightly chilly to get in but then fine) and on way back managed to find a shop open to buy some wine for sundowners on our balcony. Met the Warners at La Traviata for 8pm for a great meal, and many thanks to Rob for paying, the kids were delightful and a credit to their parents and grandparents.

Mon to Fri - Great time with ourselves, kids and their friends.  Cycled one morning via Palamos and La Fosca to Platja Castell.  Found the bar at Vostra La does strong cocktails as well as excellent slowish service meals.  Local sausages at the Cantina Taverna near the fishing port.  Usual excellent lunch at La Pla after beaching at Castell.  We enjoyed it so much we have asked for 2 weeks next Sept!
