16 - 23 Sept: Lull before next holiday

Sat - Spent most of day preparing for Pyreneeing reunion dinner which went extremely well.  Too much red wine again!

Sun -  Ride out with Mrs M's new bike.  Had coffee at Morgan's Deli and chattered to two other cyclists from Ricky, so nice to be able to do this here in CW.  Just avoided getting caught by the light rain.  Read in front of fire during afternoon.  In evening went to Sarrat Music Festival to hear Timothy West read out a musicaly story about going down the Danube.  Music delightful, he was a bit un prepared and stumbled some words.  His wife, "Sybil", was in the audience.  Such an English village affair, we were the youngest in the audience!

Mon - W2/R1 - 90 secs run, 2 ins walk, 6 times.  Ran 1.29k in the 9 mins.  Went out early following the golf course, nice in the sun.  Took BMW into Watford to have a recall for the petrol injectors, put brompton in the boot, then cycled into Watford and mooched around till it was ready.  The Harlequin is a dismal experience, populated by unhappy looking people who should loose weight. The shops are full of the same china tat.  We don't need all this consumerism.  Bought food in Asda (same depressing atmosphere).  Back to Darvells at 2pm, cycled in vill for food bits, prepared dinner.  Got cloudy and cold so gave in and put heating on.  J&L came round after work to take Granny her birthday present, its not worth saying anymore about that.  Darvells Management meeting at Carole's in the evening, usual issues over parking!  Good chat over dinner with J&L.

Tue - Up with larks.  If there were any that is.  Took bike cardboard and household refuse to Chesham dump, bought autumn lawn feed from Poores on way back and applied to our lawn and communal lawn.  Showered and now in long trousers - its cloudy and cold.  A good start to the day though.

I like this:

Chesil Beach - White Sound

Stayed grey all day.  Choir in evening which went well, poured with rain on the way back and got soaked.  Then watched Downtown Abbey, what rubbish, each scene minimal dialogue, lots of lingering glances and held back tears.

Wed - W2/R2.  Damp start to day.  Ran 1.43k in 9 mins, getting faster and feeling better.  Put mudguards on new bike, a bit fiddly but fine in the end, new pedals (cleats on side, flats other) and rear bright red light.  Cycled round to see the Malakoff diggings at the H's via the Chenies/Amersham track - the views were still nice over the Chess.  Quickie curry with Mrs M at Sathi's, followed by cake baking and watching TV in the kitchen, how homely is that?

Thu - Cycled down to Rootz for coffee. Then went to annual care meeting for Nigel in Watford...enuff said about Granny's behaviour.  Georgina came round for tea and we popped into Granny's to see if she was interested in having our old kitchen table, affirmative.  Lovely tuna for dinner from local 'Catch of the Day'  Fish Shoppe.

Fri - BT Broadband came @ 7:55 to check line that we reported yesterday.  Excellent service.  He replaced the socket with a dedicated ADSL outlet one, said he tested OK.  W2/R3, 1.53k, I did try to run a bit faster and it worked.  Walked to vill for quickie food shopping.  Cycled into Watford to buy some Starbucks decaf beans - 17 miles - then hot tub.  Packed for Spain.
